An Interesting Topic!!

I think as teachers ,we have to know how to use the timed conversation in order to help our students to develop and practise speaking , specially in large class.

Timed Conversation involves continually developing native like fluency and providing frequent opportunities for students to maintain mostly English conversation. Teacher gradually increase their length to coincide with the students´ability and desire to communicate for longer periods over the school year and the real learning. In addition, teachers should provide opportunities for using the language and skills within the activity in many different ways to mantain interest and variety.

Objectives in teaching timed conversation:

- Students will be able to maintain a conversation for a set period of time :starting with couples of minutes and increasing to more minutes by the end of the year, students will improve the fluency.

- Students will be able to appropriately use new conversational expressions in order to facilitate longer interactions and increase their conversational competences.

- Teachers should use mostly topics to call the attention to the students in order to increase their involment and interes in speaking English.

“Ofensiva hasta el tope”

On November eleventh, 1989; the Frente Farabundo Martí General Comandancy had baptized that day like “Ofensiva hasta el tope”. In that day the guerrilla had arrived to the city, the bullets surprised the urban inhabitants in the capital and different places of El Salvador. They didn’t image the combat among the guerrilla and the army. The guerrilla left the hills to go to the city. Rifles and bombs were what they carried with them. They and the army marked that day with blood and fire. People lost basic service like water, electricity or telephone service, but what they experienced will never disappear.

Some characters that participated in the conflict think about that day like the key to end the conflict; however the results that this terrible battle caused like slaughters and damages in the infrastructure will always be in the mind of the ones that suffered this unnecessary war. Nobody won the fight and it was considered like a tie, they got even. Twenty years has passed when the guerrilla offensive happened, two thousand people died in that period of time and the twelve years that lasted the war, seventy five thousand people died. Sadness is what this month involves for many people.

Cognitive capacity

Teaching is not an easy task, that’s why it requires a good character and motivation to make the learning and teaching process more fruitful, if we put in practice this quality; it is going to be rewarded by the students’ progress and we will be proud because we have helped this improvement happens. A teacher must be dynamic, available, responsible, communicative, etc. but all in all with a cognitive area higher.

Teaching

Being an excellent teacher involves knowledge, culture, professionalism and diversity. It is a job that searches the human and professional development of the people through facilitating the knowledge. It is a work that implicate to organize the interaction among students and the knowledge’s object like cultural, historical, arts, science and technology, with the purpose of establishing the connection among the past, present, and even future for the student; the scholars must analyze and know in which geography, social and cultural context are implicated because in that way, they will response with efficacy to the actual and changeable society.

VIOLENCE, EL SALVADOR'S DAILY BREAD.

"Three people were murdered yesterday", "an inocent dies after being caught up in gang gunfire", "a twenty-year old woman is raped in Soyapango". All of there news headlines are familiar to any salvadorean. It is no surprise that the salvadorean society has become one of the most violent in the world in the past fifteen years. Stadistics show that there is an avarage of 11 to 13 murders a day! . Although, the reasons for this wave of the violance could be many, there is one in particular may constitute the greatest factor, family disfunctionally.

The salvadorean family is suffering a great deal due in to home violence. It is common to see fathers beating up their wifes and children alike. A great number of these men abuse their families emotionality and physically, they also abuse the worst drug in El Salvador. This viscious habit was taken mnay to the grave and has hurt the economy of the family and therefore our lovely country. Although, there is so much more than we can say about family disfunctionality, we must above all srtar making the necessary canges that can hep our people..
This great deal of violence has its root in the lack of family values. There is no respect for woman's dignity. Moreover theres is no solidarity to our own flesh and blood, our children.

Unfortunality, many haven't been able to comprehend that the one source of wistom and knowledge comes from the Creator. Only God alone can help our beloved country to be what we envision. It is the only one that can change the heart of men and hence forth the head of the household, the fahter. May God have mercy opon us and help us to understand that is no political system that is going to change our society.

I want to finish with: WE HAVE TO PRAY TO OUR GOD AND ASK HIM ABOUT OUR LIVES EVERY DAY!!!
AND REMEMBER IN GOD WE TRUST...

  • What do you think about this problem?

Eva Perón.

The Eva Perón portrayed in the movie Evita is a modern-day saint who dedicated her short life to help the poor people in her country. But what was the real woman like? It is generally agreed that Eva had a genuine desire to help the poor. There are stories of her inviting street children into the presidential palace to give them baths and food to treat their illnesses. However, it cannot be denied that Evita was also a fascist who admired Hitler, Mussolini and Franco. She was vain and capricious. She spent huge amounts of money on her appearance. She even changed her birth certificate to create a false identity for herself in order to hide her illegitimate birth. The real Eva Perón was not saintly or perfect, but human, with mixture of good and bad qualities.

Scanning:

When we want to find specific information without wasting time, we look quicly at the text from top to bottom to find the information we want without really reading the text. This is called scanning and is useful for things like phone books, indexes, and another types of lists.

Skimming:

It means looking through a text very quickly to get a general idea of the topic of the whole text, or the topic of each section or paragraph. When we skim, we do not read every word. We look for key words and ideas.

CLASSIFICATION ESSAY

How to write a Classification essay?

This type of essay is a very specific one as it deals with the Classification of organizing the logical connections in it. The author of a classification essay is supposed to organize or sort the arguments of the essay in categories. An important thing to mention is that the categories are to fully resemble the essence of the essay’s topic.

Classification essay structure

The structure of a classification essay is built around the construction of the categories.

Introduction

The basic part of the introduction is the thesis statement. The strength of the thesis statement depends on how well it reveals the topic and its classification. It is to justify the specific categories chosen for this classification. The thesis statement has a very determined logical structure: theme its classification chosen categories the number of categories is suggested to be limited to three in order not to blur the classification. For instance: Exchange students can face three benefits: education, experience and cultural exchange.

Body

First category (The less important category).
Second category
Third category (The most important one and requires brighter examples).
In a good classification essay each category must follow one organizing principle. The categories can be organized on the basis of forming different groups of arguments.

Conclusion

The conclusion is the summary of the analyzed categories and the restatement of the thesis statement.

Reverie

Locked up in her confort zone
made up by twenty six walls
and by a thousand labyrinths
where she walks over and over again.

She has been playing with the pictures in her shelter´s walls.
She has gave them breath, she has made them live,
but at the end they have messed up her soul

She sleeps and dreams about a thousand faces...
Sighs and terderness turn to life under her reverie,
which grows as a monument to her desires
to finally crush down to the ground as soon as
she opens her eyes to the sunlight.

Gently, every night, she knits a bubble to hide in,
but the fear of the ending of her dreaming never leaves,
meanwhile, she looses herself to her own fantasy...
becoming blind and deaf to everything else.

Once again, this peace of writing came up to my mind while thinking in "inspiration" and how it works... Maybe, it is some kind of reverie, like a world we "knit" to ourselves, that finally, we share to others...well, I hope it sounds ok ^^

Helen Keller

Here are some Quotes written by Hellen Keller, I think they are wonderful and I want to share them with you:

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opens for us."

"Science may have found a cure door for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all: the apathy of human beings."

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart."

"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiance of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved".

The fallen of a wall and ideologies?????.

20 years ago, the wall that divided Berlin in two parts fell. The wall divided no just a country, but Europe in two parts: east and west, The capitalism and the communism. Nobody could cross one side to another. The wall was built to avoid the emigration of the people who looked for better opportunities at the West, this of course will affect the economy of the German Democratic Republic. So, they built it in August of 1961.

The wall fell 27 years after, when that happened the communism as economical regime was over. There was a feeling of hope through all the world. Some people believed that ideologies would be finished, and peace and love will be in the world: capitalism was the winner. No more wars, no more communist menace, the road for globalization was free.

20 years after, the capitalism proved to be a not feasible economical regime, new wars are emerging, the ecological crisis is almost sending us to the abyss, and the delinquency is affecting many countries, the breach between rich and poor people is more distant than never,

and other walls that are even worse that the one in Berlin are built now, as the one that divides Israel and Palestine, the one that divides USA from Mexico. As we can see, the struggle goes on, and now We have to blow new walls away.

Consuming fresh foods instead of canned foods

Eating is an activity that we as humans do at least two times a day. We live in a world where the variety of food is immense, and we are responsible for what we eat. We decide what we are about to eat and how it will affect our bodies. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the differences between eating fresh foods instead of canned foods. The three main differences are flavor, health benefits, and cost.

The most notable difference between these two kinds of foods is their flavor. Fresh foods have great flavor and taste because they keep all their natural conditions. Canned foods however, lack a lot of its flavor characteristics because there are some other chemical products added to the natural foods. It is logical that the fresh foods will have a greater taste and flavor when consumed just because of the time in which they have been prepared.

Comparing both types of foods we notice another difference. There is a health factor that affects both of them. Canned foods lose some of the original fresh food nutrients when stored, and also it has to be tinned with many conservatives and chemical factors that prolong the shelf life and apparent freshness of the food but could also become toxic if consumed too often.

Yet another difference between these two types of foods is the cost. Canned foods are much more expensive than fresh foods. Here the benefit of buying tinned foods is that they are easier to find, for example, in a supermarket instead of the market like the fresh foods, and they require less work to prepare than fresh foods, just open and serve.

Here are the main three differences between buying fresh foods and buying canned foods. As we can see it comes down to a personal choice, based on the time each person has, the money and the importance he/she gives to his/her nutrition and health. Therefore it is important that you consider your possibilities and choose the best type of foods for your convenience and lifestyle.

Classmates, I found this comparison and/or contrast essay on the Internet, so I decided to uploaded it because I think it will be helpful for us.

Alexandre Dumas

I started to look for fiction books and I find The count of Monte Cristo this book is now my favorite and this is the life of his creator.
Alexandre Dumas, père, born Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie (24 July 1802 – 5 December 1870)[1] was a French writer, best known for his numerous historical novels of high adventure which have made him one of the most widely read French authors in the world. Many of his novels, including The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, Twenty Years After, and The Vicomte de Bragelonne were serialized. He also wrote plays and magazine articles and was a prolific correspondent

Alexandre Dumas was born in the village of Villers-Cotterêts in the department of Aisne, northeast of Paris, France, Europe.

Dumas' paternal grandparents were Marquis Alexandre-Antoine Davy de la Pailleterie, a French nobleman, and Général commissaire in the Artillery in the colony of Saint Domingue, now Haiti, and Marie-Cesette Dumas, an Afro-Caribbean Creole of mixed French/African ancestry.[2][3] Their son, Thomas-Alexandre Dumas, married Marie-Louise Élisabeth Labouret, the daughter of an innkeeper. Thomas-Alexandre was a general in Napoleon's army, who fell out of favor, rendering his family impoverished.

By the time young Dumas was born, his family had lost all pretensions to wealth, and his widowed mother struggled to give him a decent education. General Dumas died in 1806, when Alexandre was three and a half years old. Although Marie-Louise was unable to provide her son with much in the way of education, it did not hinder young Alexandre's love of books, and he read everything he could get his hands on.

While Dumas was growing up, his mother's stories of his father's brave military acts during the glory years of Napoleon I of France spawned Alexandre's vivid imagination for adventure and heroes. Although poor, the family still had the father's distinguished reputation and aristocratic connections; and in 1822, after the restoration of the monarchy, twenty-year-old Alexandre Dumas moved to Paris, where he obtained employment at the Palais Royal in the office of the powerful duc d'Orléans (Louis Philippe

Youth

Nowadays, the adolescence and youth must be life’s stages dedicate to develop the professional and cultural character, the definition of great goals to be conquered for the young people. Youth must be characterized by the happiness, enthusiasm, heroism, solidarity, self improvement and noble feelings. Currently, we find the youth without motivation because the majority of teenagers are growing without values, goals, aspirations, a family, or a purpose for the future. It seems an “old youth”, not because they have gray hair, because there is a lack of interest, inspiration and passion. Now we watch a deep individualism, selfishness and violence. Teenagers have lost their motivation because what they have learned is a character of materialism, this has deformed their objectives.

However, we can not judge teenagers that show this reality because they are the product of disfunctional families without maternal and fatherly figures. Sometimes adolescents are raised by the television, videogames, internet, cell phones, MP3, etc. they haven’t been warned of what is good or bad for them. On the other hand, if we want to change this problem; teachers, parents, church and government have to work very hard to improve the quality of life of the young people. They have to teach moral and civics principle, teachers and parents must be exemplary models for them because in that way the new generation will not repeat those acts.
